3 nonprofit tips for staying consistent on social media

Is your social media presence feeling a little inconsistent?

You’re not alone. One of the biggest challenges we hear from nonprofits and small businesses is this: We know we need to show up online, but we can’t seem to do it consistently — or without burning out.

Let’s make it simple. Here’s a step-by-step rhythm to get into daily, weekly, and monthly to keep you steady without the stress.

DAILY CHECKLIST

Engage for 5-10 minutes. Reply to comments, respond to DMs, comment on others’ posts. Social media is about connection, and small moments of interaction add up.

Post a quick story. This can be a look behind the scenes, a quick (but relevant) thought you had, a client win, or something you’re working on.

WEEKLY CHECKLIST

Write & schedule posts. Write and schedule posts for the week (ideas: a carousel of photos, tips, quotes, client highlights). Try to schedule at least a couple per week.

Plan stories. Reuse content from your feed, share a tip, or post a poll. Have a general idea of what you want to share for the week. If relevant to your mission, save other organizations’ posts to share in stories.

A little planning up front will save you time throughout the week.

MONTHLY CHECKLIST

Brainstorm. It’s time to put that beautiful brain to work! Think up 10-15 content ideas and categorize them (tips, behind the scenes, client stories, mission-focused, and so on).

Map out your content. Take those ideas and plan them out for the month so you aren’t posting all the same types of posts in a row.

Reflect and adjust. What worked last month and what felt good. Take a look at your insights and analytics to note what connected.

Consistency doesn’t mean showing up constantly. It means having a rhythm that helps you stay visible and aligned with your mission.
